Balk Shipyard in the Netherlands was founded in Elburg in 1798. At first they built wooden fishing vessels, then they changed their course to steel and aluminum barges and small yachts early 1900s before focusing on building and refitting superyachts a few years later. The fast growing yard needed to expand from Elburg to the picturesque harbour town of Urk in 2004. Today it rebuilds and refits superyachts of up to 65m..
Balk Shipyard has three ultra-modern refit halls, and a unique slipway installation that lifts vessels of up to 1200 tons out of the water EG. The yard is only a one-hour drive from Amsterdam so easy for owners and their representatives to visit. Also Balk Shipyard is perfectly accessible by boat.
Owners choose Balk Shipyard for their no-nonsense approach, their quality and excellent craftsmanship. Undertaking a refit or rebuild needs a mindset which is completely different from building a new yacht. With Balk Shipyard’s team of well-experienced project managers, know-how and trust from the Owners side, the yard is capable of creating the unimaginable. Balk Shipyard could be a strategic stop for a refit or maintenance when traveling to Northern Europe or when course is set from North to South
